WMS · Receiving & putaway
Receive, inspect, put away. Every difference on record.
Each receipt shows what you expected, what arrived and where the two differ, line by line. When a count was wrong, correct it on top of the record: the first count stays, and the fix posts as an adjustment with its reason. At the door, receive into quarantine, inspect, put away and close.

Where it works
The receipt on the web. The receiving list in every app.
Receipt review, amendments and corrections run in the web app, at a computer or in a tablet browser. The tablet and phone apps list every receipt with its state, so the floor lead sees what’s open without walking to the office.
Receiving, by surface
- WebIn testingThe receipt with its differences, amendments and corrections, plus purchase orders and ocean BOLs. At a computer or in a tablet browser 768 px and wider.
- TabletIn testingWarehouse › Receiving lists each receipt with its state and when it opened. Read-only, in debug builds on company tablets.
- MobileIn testingThe same read-only Receiving list on company phones. A phone’s browser can’t open the WMS, so corrections happen on a tablet or a computer.
Receiving at the door — open, receive, inspect, put away, close — is coming to the tablet and the web. Receipt review and corrections work on receipts already in the WMS.

At the door
Receive into quarantine. Inspect. Put away. Close.
Open the receipt at the door with the lines you expect and the truck’s yard visit attached. Everything lands as Awaiting inspection, so nothing unchecked can be promised to an order. Inspection makes it Good, put-away moves it to a bin in your own words, and the receipt closes with every short, over and unexpected line spelled out.
ComingEvery step in this section is coming to the tablet and the web.

- A receipt won’t close while goods still sit on the dock face or in inspection.
- Each step is recorded once, even when a tablet on shaky Wi-Fi sends it twice.
- Damaged and rejected goods stay held aside and never count as usable.

The receipt
Expected, received and the difference, line by line.
Every receipt compares what you expected with what was recorded received, and names each difference in plain words.
Differences and amendmentsIn testing
The paperwork was wrong? Amend it, and keep the original.
Short, over and unexpected lines are spelled out, and the differences captured at close stay exactly as they were, marked “Awaiting a recorded resolution.” When a supplier’s paperwork was off, amend the expected quantity with what supports it. The original expectation stays in the history, and the current comparison updates.
- Items that arrived without an expected line are listed on their own.
- Missing evidence is never counted as zero differences.
- An amendment changes the comparison — never the stock or a bill.

Correct without erasing
Fix the count. Keep the first one.
Stock in the WMS is a ledger: every movement is added, and none is edited or deleted. A correction is one more line, with its reason, who recorded it and when.
Received-quantity correctionsIn testing
One case behind the corner post.
When a count was wrong, enter the total that should have been recorded, where the stock sits now and its condition. The WMS keeps the original observation, posts a separate adjustment for the difference, and files your reason with who recorded it and when.
- Correcting stock takes its own permission, one admins don’t hold by default.
- A correction that would cut into stock already reserved is refused, and nothing changes.
- A save that times out is retried as the same request, so it’s recorded once.
- Notes that change nothing, like a wrong reference, go in Corrections to this account.

Purchase orders, ocean freight and the numbers behind the dock.
What you bought, what’s on the water and how receiving is going, on the same system as the receipt.
Purchase ordersIn testing
Record what arrived, and what it cost.
Confirm a receipt against a purchase-order line with the quantity and the actual cost. Ordered, received and remaining sit side by side, and recording custody never approves the supplier’s invoice or a payment.

Ocean freightIn testing
Containers on the water, handed to the dock.
Track inbound ocean BOLs: import reviewed rows by CSV, record each milestone with its source, and hand the shipment to your warehouse, its receipt and the onward truck in the TMS. Sea keeps the evidence; only the receipt marks goods received.
Milestones come from notices and files you record, each with its source.

Receiving, measuredIn testing
Each receipt feeds Improvement two measures: how long it stayed open, and how many of its lines differed. Spot a problem? Raise it from the receipt itself; the report keeps a link to the record and changes nothing on its own.

FAQ
Questions receiving teams ask
Can my crew receive a truck at the door today?
Not on a screen yet; that flow is coming. The rules are built into the WMS: a receipt opens at a door with its expected lines, goods land as Awaiting inspection, inspection makes them Good, put-away moves them to a bin, and the receipt can’t close with goods left on the dock. The door-side screens for the tablet and the web come next. What runs in the web app today, in testing, is the receipt itself: its differences, amendments and corrections.
What happens when someone miscounts?
Correct it on top of the record. Enter the total that should have been recorded, where the stock sits now and its condition, and say what supports the change. The WMS keeps the first count, posts a separate adjustment for the difference, and files your reason with who recorded it and when. A correction that would cut into stock already reserved is refused, and nothing changes.
Does fixing the paperwork change our stock?
No. Amending an expected quantity changes the comparison, not the stock. Correcting a received quantity changes stock through its own adjustment. A note in Corrections to this account changes neither. None of them approves a bill or a payment.
Can we scan pallets, or use the handhelds we already own?
Scan to receive with the camera on company phones and tablets is coming. Hardware scanners and label printers aren’t offered, and phone-size handhelds can’t open the WMS in a browser. Tablets 768 px and wider can.
Will receiving update the purchase order and the books?
Purchasing records a receipt against a purchase-order line with the quantity and the actual cost, in testing. A dock receipt that accrues the PO line at the PO’s cost is coming. The WMS keeps exact quantities, not values: inventory valuation and cost of goods sold aren’t offered.
Does the WMS come with the TMS?
Yes, built in. The WMS comes with the TMS, with Workforce for your crew and Accounting for the books, so the dock, the trucks and the money share one sign-in. Ocean BOLs hand off to the warehouse and the onward route today, in testing; linking each receipt to the truck’s yard visit is coming.
