Price the lane. Keep the margin in view.

Route Estimate prices a shipper’s lane from the route itself: miles, transit with the required breaks and rest, tolls and the latest weekly EIA diesel average. Your buy rate, sell rate and margin sit side by side before you answer. Save it as Q-000124 and send a link that shows the price, never your cost.

Where it works

Price at the desk. The shipper reads it anywhere.

Route Estimate runs in the web app on a computer, or in a tablet browser 768 px and wider. The quote link is a public page: it opens in any browser, phones included, with no sign-in.

The broker view

Buy, sell and margin, before you say a number.

One lane, read three ways. The broker reading puts the carrier’s estimated cost beside your sell rate, with the margin in dollars and percent. Price from a target margin, or type the rate the shipper will pay and let the margin answer.

  • Price by margin or by rateAt the rate card’s 15%, Q-000124 sells for $2,529.42. Enter Bluebonnet Foods’ $2,475.00 instead and the margin reads $325.00 · 13.1%.
  • Unpriced tolls stay visibleWhen a toll can’t be priced, the buy rate reads “+ unpriced tolls” and the margin “before unpriced tolls”. A missing toll is never counted as zero.
  • The shipper readingThe price, the rate per mile and the transit time, read the way the shipper will. The quote link carries the same price and per-mile rate.

Transit, hour by hour

Arrival windows planned around the driver’s hours.

Every lane is planned the way a truck drives it: the required breaks, the 10-hour rest, solo or team. Each stop gets an arrival window and is marked On time, At risk or Late against its latest appointment.

In testing

  • Solo or team: a team keeps driving while one driver rests, so long lanes arrive sooner, at the team pay on your rate card.
  • Four equipment presets, 53′ dry van, 53′ reefer, 48′ flatbed and 26′ box truck, with hazmat on or off.
  • The shortest and longest time at each stop, so the window holds at both ends.
  • Tolls priced where they can be; the rest counted and flagged, never treated as zero.

Plan the work behind the arrival.

In the app, estimate a lane before assigning a truck, or start with a truck’s position and its drivers’ actual hours. Compare arrival windows, appointment risk, empty miles, toll coverage and the cost breakdown.

Learn from the journeys you complete.

Learning features compare driving, rest, stops, handoffs and service-time patterns with baseline forecasts. These learned forecasts are in testing and do not currently replace the operational ETA.

Illustrative lane and tolls; ETA examples come from the same forecasting engine used in the app. Actual quotes use the routed lane, toll coverage, stop service windows and the selected truck’s available driver hours.

One rate card

Every rep starts from the same numbers.

The rate card holds your brokerage’s defaults: miles per gallon, diesel, driver pay solo and team, operating cost, extra stops, the target margin, how long quotes stay valid and who they come from. Change any figure on one quote without touching the card.

In testing

  • Diesel with its dateOne click puts the EIA weekly U.S. average on the quote, rounded to the cent, with its date and source beside it. Type your own price at any time; an out-of-date benchmark says so.
  • Named extra chargesLumper, detention, an extra stop: up to 20 named amounts on a quote, each its own line in the carrier cost.
  • Read by every rep, changed by fewEveryone who quotes can read the card. Changing it takes a permission the owner grants, so every new quote starts from the owner’s figures.

Every price numbered

Q-000124, revision 2. Found in a second.

Save a quote and it takes the next number, with no gaps even when two reps save at once. Change the price and save a new revision; the earlier one stays. Daniel Cruz quoted Bluebonnet Foods $2,529.42 at the card’s 15% on Thursday; Sofia Marin came back at $2,475. Revision 2 holds the new price.

In testing

  • The quote bar shows the number, revision and status of the estimate on screen.
  • Reopen a saved quote and it shows exactly as saved, without recalculating.
  • If someone saved a newer revision first, yours never overwrites it: reopen, then save.

  2. QuotedA link to it was created.
  3. TenderedComingTurned into a tender, with the sell rate kept.

Each saved revision is valid for the rate card’s 7 days, and its link shows the valid-until date.

What we’re building next

From “yes” to a covered load, without re-keying.

Planned or partly built, each marked Coming until it works end to end.

  • Accept on the link

The shipper accepts on the quote link, and the load is created from the quote with its stops and windows. Today the link offers Email and Call.

  • Quote → tender, sell rate kept

Offer the quote to a carrier at the buy rate, with the sell rate and margin kept on the load instead of left behind on the quote.

    How tendering will work
  • Fuel surcharge from the EIA price

Surcharge tables indexed to the weekly EIA diesel average the estimate already reads, so contract lanes move with the published price.

  • Lane history and win/loss

Every quote on a lane, won or lost, with the margin you held, so the next price starts from what happened last time.

FAQ

Questions brokers ask

Is the price a market rate?

No. Route Estimate builds the price from the lane: routed miles, transit with the required breaks and rest, tolls, the EIA weekly diesel average and your rate card, then your target margin or the sell rate you enter. A market-rate benchmark isn’t offered; your read of the market goes into the sell rate.

Can the shipper see my buy rate or margin?

No. The quote link is built from a short list of fields: price, rate per mile, equipment, miles, valid-until date, map, stop windows, your note and your contact details. There is no field for a cost line, a buy rate or a margin, so the page can’t show one. Quote links are in testing.

Can the shipper accept the quote online?

Not yet. Today the link has an Email button, with the quote number in the subject, and a Call button. Accepting on the link, with the load created from the quote, is coming.

Does the margin follow the load once it’s booked?

Not yet. The margin lives on the quote. The load builder is available and holds one posted rate for the load. Turning a quote into a tender that keeps the sell rate and margin on the load is coming.

Where does the diesel price come from, and how fresh is it?

From the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s weekly U.S. diesel average, shown with its observation date and source. One click puts it on the quote, rounded to the cent, and you can type your own price instead. If the benchmark is out of date, the page says so.

Can my reps quote from their phones?

Route Estimate runs on a computer, or in a tablet browser 768 px and wider. A phone’s browser can’t open the workspace, and the phone app doesn’t price lanes. The quote link your shipper receives opens on any phone.

Quote your next lane with the margin in view.

Bring a lane you priced this week. We’ll build it in Route Estimate with you: the buy, the sell, the transit and the link your shipper would receive.
