One business number. Answered in the browser.

Place and answer calls on your company number in the web app, on any computer, and every call lands in the log for its line. An IVR, an AI receptionist and calling in the tablet app are in testing. Calling in the mobile app and desk phones are coming.

Call to try it

Call a demo line. Hear what your callers would hear.

No one is rung, and calls aren’t recorded. A message you leave is kept and heard by ANNEX ORBIS. Your carrier’s standard call charges may apply.

Where it works

Four ways to the business line. Today, it’s the browser.

The web, tablet and mobile apps show the same call log and numbers under one account. Here is what each one does with a call today.

Today, device by device

  • WebAvailablePlace and answer calls in the web app, on a computer or in a tablet’s browser, on lines already on the platform. A new number is in testing.
  • TabletIn testingPlace and answer calls in the app. Calls ring the tablet by push, even when it’s locked. The call log and follow-ups are there too.
  • MobileIn testingThe call log and follow-ups. It can’t place or take calls today; calling in the app is coming.
  • Desk phoneComingA VoIP desk phone on your business line. Not built yet.

The tablet and mobile apps are test builds on company devices, not public releases. A phone’s browser can’t open the web app, which works on tablets and computers.

The softphone

A phone in the web app’s header.

The phone sits at the top right of the web app, beside HAL. Open it to dial, answer or run a call. You need a browser and a headset, not phone hardware.

  • The caller’s name from your contacts while the call comes inIn testing
  • Your company number shown on the calls you placeIn testing
  • Calls refused to numbers that texted STOPIn testing

It dials US numbers only. Transfers are blind: the call moves to the new number when you send it. There’s no ringtone yet. An incoming call opens the panel, so keep the tab where you can see it.

Emergency calls

The dock accepts 911 and 933, but no emergency address is registered for any number, so a 911 call from the browser carries no registered address. Keep a cell phone or landline for emergencies.

Calls

Every call on every line, logged.

The Phone page lists the calls on the lines you can use. Each call has its own page: when it started, how it was answered, and who still owes a call back.

Call logAvailable

All calls and Missed calls, line by line.

Each row shows the other party’s number, the line and how the call ended. Missed calls lists the inbound calls someone still has to return.

  • Only the lines each person may use
  • Answered, Completed, No answer, Busy, Voicemail or Failed on every call
  • Call back from the call’s page, through the dock

Team ring and follow-upsIn testing

One person at a time, then a follow-up with an owner.

A call first tries the person who last answered that caller, if they did within the number’s window. Then it tries each available teammate on the responsible team. Each gets about 10 seconds, then the caller reaches voicemail. A missed call or voicemail opens a follow-up that stays open until someone resolves it.

  • Every attempt listed: who was tried, why, and what happened
  • The answer path on every call
  • An outcome for each conversation: Handled, No follow-up needed, Wrong number or Spam

Team ring reaches teammates who answer calls on the number and can be reached in the web app or the tablet app. A new number starts with the person who got it; an admin can give it to others, which is in testing.

Voicemail

An unanswered call goes to voicemail after a beep, and the message is stored with the call. Voicemail boxes are in testing: each has its own greetings and its own longest message, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, and a shared box is heard by a team or the people you choose. Listening in the web app is in testing too.

Tablet and mobile apps

The tablet takes calls. The phone keeps the log.

The tablet and mobile apps have the same call log, call pages and follow-ups. The tablet app also places and takes calls; the mobile app doesn’t yet.

TabletIn testing

Call back from the app. Calls ring it by push.

On the tablet, Call back opens the app’s keypad with the number ready, and Call places the call from your company number. Incoming calls ring the tablet by push, even when it’s locked with the screen off, and show the caller, the number they called and your organization.

  • Choose which of your numbers to call from
  • Calls ring by push, even when the tablet is locked
  • Mark Contact made or Resolve the follow-up in the app

MobileIn testing

The call log on your phone. Calling is coming.

The mobile app shows calls, missed calls and follow-ups, and you can mark Contact made or resolve a follow-up. It can’t place or take a call today, and a phone’s browser can’t open the web app.

Numbers

Get a local or toll-free number in four steps.

Numbers are bought under Organization › Admin › Phone numbers and paid from a prepaid phone balance. The price shows before you buy.

New numbersIn testing

Pick the kind, the place and the number.

Choose Local by area code or city, or Toll-free with an optional word in it, like TRUCK. Pick a number, review what’s due today and each month, then buy it from the balance.

  • Four steps: the kind, the place, the number, then review and buy
  • The number is held for you while you review
  • Release a number you no longer need

For now, ANNEX ORBIS adds funds to phone balances by hand when you ask.

Caller continuityIn testing

A responsible team, and a window in minutes.

On each number’s page, choose the team responsible for its calls, and a window of up to 60 minutes in which a returning caller goes first to the person who last answered them. Set it before you give the number out.

  • In testingChoosing who uses each number: calls out, answers calls or texts

A new number starts with the person who got it. An admin can give it to others, each to call out, answer calls or text.

FAQ

Questions about the phone

Can we keep our current number?

Not today. Bringing a number over from another provider (porting) isn’t offered. You can get a new local or toll-free number in the web app, which is in testing.

Does it work on my cell phone?

Not for calls, today. The mobile app shows the call log and follow-ups, in testing, but it can’t place or take a call, and a phone’s browser can’t open the web app. Calling in the mobile app is coming. For now, calls happen in the web app on a computer or in a tablet’s browser, and in the tablet app, which is in testing.

Can we use desk phones?

Not yet. A VoIP desk phone on your business line is coming, but it isn’t built. Today your team calls from the web app with a headset.

Can we call 911 from it?

Don’t rely on it. The dock accepts 911 and 933, but no emergency address is registered for any number, so a 911 call from the browser would carry no registered address. Keep a cell phone or landline for emergencies.

What does a number cost?

Numbers and calls are paid from a prepaid phone balance. Before you buy, the window shows what’s due today and the price each month, charged on the 1st. For now, ANNEX ORBIS adds funds to a balance by hand. Talk to us about the office tools’ pricing.

Can an AI answer our calls?

Yes, in testing. The AI receptionist answers your number, tells callers it’s an AI and answers questions from what you give it. It can also take messages and put callers through to people, teams or outside numbers you list. If a caller presses 0, or the AI can’t take the call, the call goes where you choose: your team, your IVR or a message.

Can we record calls?

Yes, in testing. Recording is an admin setting for every number or just one. A notice in your words plays before anything else, and you can let callers press 9 to continue without recording. Recordings are kept from 30 days to 3 years. Your admins and the people you choose may listen, and every listen is logged. Recording laws differ from state to state, so check yours before you turn it on.

What happens when everyone is busy?

A ring group can be set to Wait in line. Callers hear your greeting, their place in line and the wait, then hold music, and can press 2 to leave a message. A waiting caller can also ask for a call back and keep their place. Both are in testing.

Who can use a number?

A new number starts with the person who got it. An admin can give it to others on the number’s page, each to call out, answer calls or text, and can take it away again. Choosing who uses each number is in testing.
