Office · People
From offer letter to approved timesheet.
People takes a new hire through a start packet to first-day cards, keeps each license and card with its expiry date, and runs the time clock, timesheets, schedules and leave. In the app it’s called Workforce.

Where it works
The office works on the web. The time clock is in the apps too.
Status on each device
- WebIn testingEverything on this page: hiring, credentials, time, schedules, leave, benefits, expense claims and pay records.
- TabletIn testingThe Workforce app: the time clock, your week, your credentials and your team’s leave balances. Hiring, approvals and leave requests stay on the web.
- MobileIn testingThe same four places on a phone. On Android, drivers add their own license and medical card. A phone’s browser can’t open the web app.
The tablet and phone apps are test builds on company devices, not in any app store.
Hiring
One checklist from offer letter to first day.
A hire runs in five steps: the person, their employment, the start packet, the offer and Hired. The packet comes from your template. For an employee, Form I-9 and Form W-4 are always in it.
- Start packet from your template: offer letter, I-9, W-4, state withholding, handbookIn testing
- Offer letter filled with the name, title and start date, then sent for signatureIn testing
- First-day cards for the I-9 deadlines, withholding and the rest of the packetIn testing
- Rehire runs the same steps, prefilled from the last employmentIn testing
- Background checks through a screening providerComing
Credentials
Every license and card, with its expiry date.
Each person records their own credentials: a CDL with its class and endorsements, the medical examiner’s certificate, a TWIC card, a training certificate. The office sees each one as Current, Expiring or Expired, worst first.
- Credentials with Current, Expiring and Expired statusIn testing
- Driver compliance: every driver’s cards, the lapsed ones firstIn testing
- Drivers add their license and medical card in the Android app; on a phone it reads the card, and the driver confirms each fieldIn testing
- Marking a card checked from the officeComing
A card someone records about themselves shows “Not checked” until someone else checks it against the card. It’s a list of credentials, not a full driver qualification file.
Driver compliance for carriersTime and schedules
Clock in, submit the week, approve it.
People clock in and out and take breaks from the web or the app, signed in as themselves. At the end of the week they submit their timesheet, and a manager approves it from Approvals.
- Time clock with breaks on the web, the tablet and the phoneIn testing
- Weekly timesheets, submitted and approvedIn testing
- Punch corrections that keep the original punch; nobody corrects their ownIn testing
- Weekly schedules, open shifts, swaps and availabilityIn testing
- A shared PIN kiosk by the doorComing
In the apps, the time clock, the week and the timesheet list are there. Submitting and approving timesheets, swaps and open shifts stay on the web.
Leave, policies and benefits
Time off, asked for and decided in one place.
A person picks the policy, the days and the hours, with their balance in view. Their manager approves or denies it from Approvals, and the request shows where it stands.
- Leave requests and decisions, with the balance in viewIn testing
- Leave policies with an accrual rate and caps for each work stateIn testing
- Handbook and policy acknowledgements, sent to each person and kept on their fileIn testing
- Benefits enrollment records: plan, tier and each side’s contributionIn testing
Benefits here are records of who’s enrolled in what. There are no plans, insurers or open enrollment.
Pay records
The pay records stay here. Paying people stays with your provider.
Each person’s pay terms are written down, approved expense claims go to the books, and your payroll provider’s pay run comes back in as a journal. Withholding, deposits and tax filings stay with the provider.
- Pay agreements: per hour, per mile, per stop or a share of revenue, with team splitsIn testing
- Expense claims with a receipt, approved into AccountingIn testing
- Payroll journal import from Gusto, Rippling, ADP or a CSV, posted to the booksIn testing
Status, plainly
What’s in testing, what’s coming, what we don’t do.
Available is live in production. In testing is built and running, not yet proven with real customers. Coming is planned or partly built.

FAQ
Questions about People
Is People a payroll service?
No. People keeps the roster, each person’s pay terms, approved hours and approved expense claims. Your payroll provider withholds tax, pays people and files the returns. Bring its pay run back from Gusto, Rippling, ADP or a CSV, and the journal posts to the books. Importing is in testing.
Why does the app say Workforce?
It’s the same product. In the web app it sits under Organization › Workforce, and the tablet and phone apps call it Workforce too. This site calls it People.
Can staff clock in on a shared tablet by the door?
Not yet. Today each person clocks in signed in as themselves, on the web or in the app. A shared kiosk where people punch in with a PIN is coming. The web already lets someone set a PIN, but nothing punches with it yet.
Does it handle the I-9 and E-Verify?
A hire puts Form I-9 in the start packet and lists its deadlines as first-day cards: section 1 on the first day, section 2 within three business days. E-Verify isn’t connected. You can keep an E-Verify case here as a record, but you open it in E-Verify yourself.
Who checks a driver’s license?
Someone other than the driver. A card a person records about themselves shows “Not checked” until someone checks it against the card itself. Marking a card checked from the office is coming, so today every self-recorded card shows Not checked.
Is it ready for our whole team?
Not yet. Everything on this page is in testing: built and running, not yet proven with a real team. Tell us how you hire and track time today, and we’ll show you where each part stands.
